EASING INTO A WORKOUT ROUTINE AFTER BIRTH

It’s been almost 20months since giving birth to Yuzuki.

But I wonder why is there such pressure to look amazing after you’ve given birth? We are so eager to ‘snap back’ into shape and go on crazy diets straight away and use waist trainers within days of giving birth!?  I had a hard time bouncing back after because of some medical issues, I couldn’t breastfeed at all, couldn’t exercise, or even go for walks.

Take it easy on yourself. Seriously. The most important thing you can do in those first few weeks and months is to take it one day at a time, and release yourself from expectations. There’s a whole new element of “you” now.

As I built my new routine with my baby, I found gaps in the schedule where I can squeeze in time for workout sessions and it in fact made me a very happy Mother!

Here is a great Timeline example that I recommend.

Post Natal Timeline 0-12 Months

0-3 months

  • Pelvic Floor Muscle Activations
  • Improve Postnatal Posture
  • Walking start from 15mins build to 25mins

3-6 months

  • 30min Ballet Barre
  • 30min Dance Tone
  • 30min Yoga Stretch

6-9 months

  • Return to Pre-Pregnancy workout if sleeping 6 hours continuous

10-12 months

  • Increase Intensity
  • Body and Mind Recovery

You gave birth to a baby, and you’re focused on caring for your newborn—but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give yourself a little loving care. Happy caring!!
